RESUMO
A tragédia, como gênero literário, é enraizada na realidade social, mas não reflete essa realidade, ela a questiona e a contesta em seus valores fundamentais, suscitando a compaixão e o terror que tem por objetivo a catarse das emoções. Freud extraiu desse corpus mítico as bases para a fundamentação da psicanálise, que tem por estrutura um complexo inconsciente cujo conteúdo é semelhante àquele do enredo da tragédia grega Édipo-Rei, de Sófocles. Nessa perspectiva, o artigo se desenvolve em quatro direções que estão interligadas: busca na História a designação de mitologia e mito; vislumbra a tragédia como expressão do pathos e do logos; resgata a falta trágica que precede a história do herói vista como fatalidade - que representa a essência da tragédia e, ainda, apresenta elaborações de Freud e Lacan, que tomam a tragédia para falar daquilo que é a-histórico,presente na subjetividade.(AU)
The tragedy, as a literary genre, is rooted in social reality, but it does not reflect thisreality, it questions and contests it in its basic values, arousing the compassion and theterror which aim at the catharsis of the emotions. Freud extracted from this mythical corpus the bases for Psychoanalysis, which has as a structure an unconscious complex with the content similar to the one of Greek tragedy Oedipus theKing, by Sophocles. In this perspective, the article is developed in four directions that are interconnected: itsearches for the designation of mythology and myth in History; it glimpses the tragedy asan expression of the pathos and the logos; it rescues the tragic fault that precedes the storyof the hero seen as fate - which represents the essence of the tragedy; and, also, the article presents elaborations by Freud and Lacan, who use the tragedy to discuss what is ahistorical,present in the subjectivity.(AU)
